Dental Support

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Dental hygiene can be non-existent for many people who live in extreme poverty. Qualified volunteers will provide dental care and oral health education to the communities we work in who have with little or no access to a dentist. Providing dental education as well as much needed cleaning, examinations and extractions where needed.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

– Working alongside clinic staff to provide dental work.
– Assist and educate the local staff on safe practises
– Educating school children, churches and other community groups about dental hygiene.

WHAT THE PROGRAM ACHIEVES

This project focuses on providing culturally sensitive methods of awareness raising and education dealing with dental hygiene within the target populations. There is a great lack of access to dental hygeneist among the rural communities suffering the effects of extreme poverty. Volunteers will educate people about positive dental practises and its importance. Making saving any healthy existing teeth the main goal when working one on one with clients. By means of IEC (information, education and communication) we try to reach as many people as we can through seminars, workshops, and one on one communication.

Volunteers participating in this project will visit local communities to work alongside health clinic staff.

ELIGIBILITY
